BTI supplies Rotterdam Film Festival

The 40th edition of the renowned International Film Festival Rotterdam took place from 26 January to 6 February, outselling the previous edition by more than 12,000 tickets. BTI Amsterdam is proud to have translated five of the featured films; Attenberg (Greece 2010, directed by Athina Rachel Tsangai), Aurora (Romania 2010, directed by Cristi Puiu), Poetry (South-Korea 2010, directed by Chang-dong Lee), Post Mortem (Chili 2010, directed by Pablo Larrain) and 3 (Germany 2010, directed by Tom Tykwer).

We translated these films from Greek, Romanian, South-Korean, Spanish and German, respectively, in to Dutch (all five) and French (three of them).

Our translators called it a "special experience". Sharon Chin, who translated Post Mortem, added, "I'm very happy that my work was appreciated by such a wide and varied audience". And Marije Jansen, translator of Attenberg, said, "Our translations are typically broadcast on television, so it was extra special to produce something for the big screen," adding that, "Attenberg is a beautiful film, extremely visual."

The translations were commissioned by Eyefilm; the film institute of the Netherlands and by Lumiere/BFD.
